Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Caraga launched GREENketching, the first virtual poster making competition on June 25, 2020. This is in line with the 2020 Philippine Environment Month celebration.

Around twenty student-artists, grades 7-12 from public and private institutions in Caraga Region participated the contest via zoom.

Five participants were declared winners and awarded during the virtual culmination of the Philippine Environment Month on June 30, namely: Ysabella Juliet C. Geolingo (Philippine Science High School-Caraga), Prince Jairo A. Sumayang (Surigao City National High School), Maria Luz V. Eguia (Agusan del Sur National High School), Bern JC L. Lumancas (Jacinto P. Elpa National High School), and Ma. Nieva Jessica C. Ronquillo (Agusan del Sur National High School). Each winner received a cash prize worth Five Thousand Pesos (P5,000.00) and certificate.

Engr. Albert G. Arcamo, the OIC Regional Director, expressed his gratitude to the student-artists for joining the event. He vowed to continue this kind of engagement with the youth. “We are recognizing the importance of the youth in achieving the mission of the bureau, which is to restore and enhance environmental quality towards good public health, environmental integrity and economic viability,” RD Arcamo said during the virtual awarding. He added that GREENketching is only one of the many activities EMB 13 crafted for continued engagement with the youth sector.

Furthermore, he vowed to continue this kind of engagement involving the youth, to educate and encourage them to use their creativity in promoting sustainable development in protecting our planet (c. elpa).
